SKY Sports presenter Simon Thomas has revealed his son is sleeping in his own bed again for the first time since his wife died.
The grieving dad lost his late wife Gemma 18 weeks ago when she died of Acute Myloid Leukaemia three days after falling ill.
His son Ethan has slept in his parents’ bed ever since – but as a special treat for the eight-year-old, Simon re-decorated his bedroom ready for him to move back in over Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
Sharing a sweet snap on Instagram, Simon said: “Eighteen weeks on since Mum went Ethan is going back to his bedroom tonight for the first time tonight. I’ve had it redecorated and got a new bed.
“Thanks to my legend neighbor Foxy for helping put the bed up. I love him.”
He revealed that was he taking his son Ethan away to Thailand this Easter holiday – something they had planned to do with Gemma this summer.
Sharing a picture of the pair with their luggage today, Simon said: “This summer we had planned to go to see our friends in Thailand as a family.
“We’ve decided to go this Easter instead. It won’t be the same, it’s another big first, I have very mixed feelings but I’m glad we’re going.”
The latest heartbreaking update comes just a month after Simon marked his 45th birthday with a touching note to son Ethan.
He wrote: “Today is going to be the unhappiest of birthdays for Daddy with Mummy no longer here.
